As students at Texas’ largest college of music, we knew there was a need for more opportunities for our peers passionate about A Cappella. With only three other groups in the area, all nearly reaching their maximum capacity, many talented singers were left without a place to share their voices. We saw a community bursting with untapped potential—voices that deserved to be heard and stories that needed to be sung.
We created UNTapped to be more than just another competitive group—it’s a space for performers who see music as a way to connect, inspire, and share a message with their audience. Our mission is to build a supportive and creative community where every voice is valued and every performance has a purpose.
University of North Texas College of Music
Contemporary competitive college A Cappella is a modern vocal art form where groups use only their voices to create full, dynamic performances—blending intricate harmonies, vocal percussion, and choreography. Groups compete at events like the ICCA, showcasing musicality, creativity, and stage presence. More than just competition, it’s a vibrant community where singers collaborate, innovate, and share their passion for music.
At UNTapped, we go beyond just singing—we strive to develop well-rounded performers and creators. Our members receive training in beatboxing, arranging music, audio and video production, choreography, and leadership, helping them refine their skills both on and off the stage. We aim to perform one full concert each semester while also competing and collaborating at prestigious events like AcaTex, ICCA, VoiceJam, OneVoice, NACC, BOSS, and LAAF. As we grow, we hope to expand into paid gigs, performing at venues and fundraisers, using our music to connect with audiences and support meaningful causes. Above all, we are committed to cultivating a unique vocal sound and fostering a passionate, creative community where every member has the opportunity to shine.

Our Story
UNTapped was founded by three friends brought together by a shared passion for A Cappella. Avery and Isabella first met in middle school choir, where they were introduced to the world of A Cappella music. During their time at MacArthur High School, they met Ryan, and all three became active members of the school’s thriving A Cappella community.
Each of our founders was part of MacArthur High School's competitive groups: Aperture (Avery 2020-21, Isabella & Ryan 2022-23) and the award-winning PFC (Premiere Final Cut) (Avery 2021-23, Isabella & Ryan 2023-24). These experiences shaped their love for music and teamwork, inspiring them to continue singing beyond high school.
Now at the University of North Texas, the three reunited with a vision—to create a space where they and others could continue to share the love for music and community that was instilled in them by their high school director. UNTapped is the result of that dream, built on passion, friendship, and a commitment to keeping the music alive.
A special thank you to Matt and BriAnne Woodward for their guidance, support, and the foundation they provided in our musical journey.
